Strike three arrived

After the softball (and tornado) adventure on Friday, Corey's softball team was scheduled to play another game on Saturday afternoon. So at 4 pm they played game two, again in Mandan.

Thankfully, the weather was less eventful and they won 16 to 6. So that moved us to the next round of the tournament, on Sunday.

The luck was not on our side - Corey's team got scheduled to play at 7:30 am. Even though that is the time we're both on our way to work during the week - on Sunday it seems much earlier.

It. was. so. early.

We were all very sleepy.

This time the team played at a park in Bismarck - so we didn't have to drive very far. Fantastic! More time to sleep.

It took the boys a little while to get warmed up ...

Good thing it was such a beautiful morning.

A few fans even showed up. The dude with the ball is our pitcher.

The competition was intense.

The other team was very good. Intimidating. Actually, they won the bracket last year.

The boys played hard and had fun.

But sadly ...

We just didn't score enough runs to win the game. This guy is on Corey's team - he broke his nose at a softball game about 10 days ago. You can't see it in this photo, but it looks very gross. And painful. He got to play this weekend and will have his nose re-set this week.

So that concludes the 2009 McQuade Softball Tournament for us.

Here are some fresh cut flowers from my garden to cheer up all the boys that are sad about the loss.

...

Corey and I are hosting a few overnight guests tonight and we're having a little grill-out get together this evening so the weekend isn't over yet!
